This railway station is a world-famous Finnish art nouveau building clad with pink granite. This beautiful and well-preserved building is one of the landmarks of Helsinki. Located in the district of Kluuvi, this station was designed by Eliel Saarinen and opened in 1919. For its splendid architecture, it is often recognised as one of the most marvellous railway stations in the world.

The most notable features of this building include its clock tower and two pairs of statues installed at the main entrance. Each of these statues holds a spherical lamp which is lit during the night.
