Central Market

Local nameMercat Central
LocationCiutat Vella, Valencia, Spain

One of the oldest still running markets in Europe. In 1839, an open-air market was built at the site of the traditional street market and in 1928, the marketplace was roofed over. The building is a marvellous example of Modernist architecture, worth seeing even if you do not plan to buy anything.

With almost 400 stalls, this place is always busy with tourists and locals alike. It is the perfect spot to buy some local products and taste traditional dishes as many great restaurants are also located here.
