Overlooking the Tagus River, this memorial is a tribute to Portuguese discoverers. In total, there are 33 important figures from the Portuguese Age of Discovery depicted on the monument. It features a statue of Henry the Navigator, the Portuguese royal prince and explorer, who sent many ships to Africa.
Upon entering you can either access the top of the monument and enjoy a scenic view of the riverside, or you go down to Level-1. This space is used for various artistic and cultural events throughout the year and it houses an exhibition that will deepen your knowledge of Portuguese history.
You can get here from the train station Belém or by tram 15.
