Union Station

Los Angeles Union Station, built in 1939 by the Parkinson father-and-son team of architects, is a lively transportation hub, as well as the largest train station in the western US. You also might have seen it in multiple well-known movies, such as Pearl Harbor or the Blade Runner.

The Station, one of the few historic buildings to visit in Los Angeles, very nearly had not come into being at all, as its construction had been subject to a public vote in the 1930s. Today, combining the architectural styles of Art Deco, Mission Revival and Streamline Moderne style, the Union Station is a marvel to behold, both on the inside and from the outside. It is also permitted to take photographs here, should you desire to take away some permanent mementoes of the place.

Apart from connections to train, metro and busses, the Station also offers several places to eat at, as well as garden patios at the sides of the waiting room. Do not miss the chance to play the great piano in the main hall when visiting, either.
