The São Nicolau Waterfall is a natural landmark where the water drops approximately 30 meters over a basalt escarpment. It serves as the upper of two waterfalls situated along the Rio Manuel Jorge. A bridge is located at the base of the waterfall, which is accessible via a branch road off the EN1. Situated at an elevation of about 930 meters, the falls are a prominent feature of the central highlands.
