Standing at an elevation of 2,877 meters, this summit is a Classified Natural Site. A 15-minute cable car ride provides access to the peak, which features a skywalk, interactive exhibits, and a television transmitter.

The site is home to the Pic du Midi Observatory, a historic facility used for astronomical and meteorological research. Due to the clarity of the atmosphere, the area is designated as an International Dark Sky Reserve, supporting ongoing scientific observation and public astronomical programs.

Panoramic views of the surrounding mountain range are visible from the summit. The facilities are open to the public and include options for astronomical observation evenings and overnight stays.
