Orava Forest Railway is a special type of railway originally used to transport timber from inaccessible mountain areas. The sightseeing train starts its journey from Tanečník Station near the village of Oravská Lesná.
The ride itself takes about 15-20 minutes to Beskyd Saddle where it takes a short break. Passengers can enjoy a view from a small observation tower and experience what it is like to be 935 metres above the sea level with Orava nature all around you. There is also a small typical Goral Wooden Cottage that you can take a look at. After the break, the train heads back to Tanečník Station.
It's a good place for children too, as the ride itself is accompanied by fairytale characters hidden in the forest near the railway. There is also a peacock aviary and a playground. A small museum of this place's history is a must while you wait for your ride.
Free parking in the area.
