The Dwarf Beech (Fagus sylvatica var. suentelensis) is a rare variety of the European Beech and is designated as a National Monument. This wide-spreading tree features a distinctive short, twisted trunk and contorted branches that are pendulous at their ends. Due to its growth pattern, the tree typically expands more in width than height, seldom reaching more than 15 meters.

This botanical specimen belongs to a rare cultivar group with fewer than 1500 older individuals identified in Europe. It is also referred to as the Süntel-Buche or twisted beech. While similar to the weeping beech, this variety is distinguished by its more contorted branching and has formed colonies in several countries, including Germany, Denmark, and France.
