As a part of Benedictine Monastery, Veľká Skalka was built around the 13th century. Over time it changed its appearance and some parts of it were re-built as it belonged to different Catholic religious orders. The latest addition is a tourist shelter for any visitors who wish to spend some time there.
There's also a guide available for those who are interested. In case there's a bigger group of visitors, it's advised to call in advance, the guide service's contact information can be found on the official site.
