Strøget Shopping Street

The longest and oldest pedestrian street in the world according to the city of Copenhagen sources, this street is the place to go to, if you crave some high-end shopping experiences. Take a stroll along it and browse through merchandise in shops like Prada, Louis Vuitton or Boss. There are also many of the more mainline chain stores, like H&M.

The street, made pedestrian-only by 1962, is also popular for its bustling street life. You can find many artisans and performers around every corner here, be it musicians, magicians or acrobats.

If you can, time your visit so that you are here at noon. This is when the royal guard performs a ceremonial march through the entire length of the street, heading from Rosenborg Castle to Amalienborg Palace, the residence of the royal family. You can even find out whether the queen is at home at the moment. If so, the march will be accompanied by a music band.
