This karst cave is a national natural monument located within the Štramberk National Garden. It served as a prehistoric shelter for both early humans and various Ice Age animals, including cave bears.

The site gained international significance in 1880 following the discovery of the Šipecká čelist (Šipka jaw), which is the mandible of a Neanderthal child. This discovery provides evidence of what is considered the oldest human settlement in the Czech Republic.

The cave is situated in a position that provides views of the surrounding town and the Trúba castle tower. It is an important archaeological site that offers insight into prehistoric habitation and the regional karst landscape.
