Franklin Delano Roosevelt Memorial

Local nameFranklin Delano Roosevelt Memorial
LocationWashington, United States

This memorial commemorates Franklin Delano Roosevelt, the four-times American president, who was the head of the United States during the Great Depression. It was designed by a well-known architect Lawrence Halprin. Inside, you can read 21 most famous quotes by the president and his wife.

The memorial, made out of red granite, was established in 1997. It is divided into 4 rooms, each meant to represent one of the terms for which the president served. You can also see a statue of the president's wife here, the only first lady to be thus included in the memorial of her husband.

The memorial is near other sights and easy to reach by foot. If you come by car, remember, that parking in the streets is only free of charge for the first two hours.
