This district is one of the oldest in Hong Kong, as it was established in the middle of the 19th century. Today, it has transformed into a busy, modern area, complete with a new hotel and classy restaurants.
The highlight of the district, and a reminder of its traditional roots, is the old doubledecker tram, which still serves as a means of public transport here.
Exploring the district, you can browse through numerous shops dedicated to Chinese medicine and tonic foods on the Ko Shing Street, buy handmade goods in the famous Western market, or buy a snack in one of the stalls selling dried food.
