The museum commemorates the events of the Salvadoran Civil War, which took place between 1979 and 1992. Managed by former members of the FMLN (Farabundo Martí National Liberation Front), the facility functions as a memorial and a significant site along the Peace Route. Former guerrilla combatants frequently lead tours, providing context to the historical narrative presented.
The exhibition space consists of five rooms displaying war artifacts, original documents, and photographs from the conflict. Key features include the equipment used by the underground radio station Radio Venceremos, various military armaments, and the remains of a downed helicopter. The grounds also contain a network of underground tunnels and reconstructions illustrating guerrilla lifestyles during the war.
