Established in 1972, this institution is operated by the Eswatini National Trust Commission as a custodian of the nation's cultural and natural heritage. Formerly known as the Swaziland National Museum, the site serves as a central point for the preservation and conservation of the Kingdom's history and environment.
The grounds include a traditional beehive village and a specialized collection of vintage cars used by King Sobhuza II during the 1940s. These exhibits provide insight into Swazi culture and royal history.
The museum is situated adjacent to the national Parliament and the King Sobhuza II Memorial Park. The neighboring memorial park features a mausoleum and a three-meter statue of the former King, complementing the museum's historical displays.
