The site is a geographic landmark marking the latitude 66°33′45.9″ north of the equator. A white line is painted across the central square to indicate the boundary of the Arctic region. This monument, established in 1985, serves as a primary site for photography and geographic commemoration. Crossing the line is possible on the central square of the park.
The Arctic Circle Information center provides maps, activity bookings, and official Arctic Circle Crossing Certificates. The landmark is situated within a Christmas-themed destination that includes the Santa Claus Office (Joulupukin Kammari), where meetings with Santa Claus are held, and the Santa Claus Main Post Office.
The area is open to the public and functions as a significant landmark for crossing into the northern polar region.
