These monolithic rock formations are composed of conglomerate pinnacles reaching heights of 150 to 200 meters above the savanna. Formed millions of years ago, the stones are characterized by their dark color and distinct shapes, some of which are said to resemble animals.
Historically, this location served as the capital and strategic fortress of the Kingdom of Ndongo. It is famously linked to Queen Ana de Sousa Ginga (also known as Nzinga Mbande), the 17th-century ruler of the Ndongo and Matamba kingdoms. The site preserves footprints traditionally attributed to the queen and features a 17th-century Portuguese fort.
This Natural Monument is a sacred site associated with various tribal legends and mystical traditions. The area is open to the public for exploration and serves as a viewpoint over the surrounding plains.
