Qaqortoq Museum

Housed in the historic Forstanderskabshus, a former Royal Greenland Trading Department building dating to 1804, the museum is the oldest structure in the region. The permanent collection focuses on the archaeological and cultural history of the Dorset, Thule, and Norse civilizations. Displays include traditional umiak boats, kayaks, hunting tools, and Greenlandic national costumes.

The museum includes preserved historical rooms that once hosted the explorer Knud Rasmussen and the pilot Charles Lindbergh. In addition to archaeological finds and local art, the site features a dedicated sub-department called the Greenlandic Tele-Museum. The institution was officially established in its current form on June 21, 1998, and utilizes several historic colonial buildings to present the area's heritage.
