Ala-Too Square

Established in 1984 to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Kyrgyz SSR, this central square is a significant historical and cultural site. It serves as a focal point for state events, national ceremonies, and historical protests. The area is open to the public and functions as a gathering place for relaxation.

The square features a 100-meter flagpole and several prominent monuments, including a statue of the epic hero Manas and a monument to Chingiz Aitmatov. The Freedom Monument, which represents Kyrgyz identity and independence, is also located on the grounds. A changing of the guard ceremony takes place here, and the space is characterized by numerous fountains that are active during the summer months.

Major institutions surround the square, including the State Historical Museum. It remains a central landmark for the city and a primary venue for public demonstrations and national commemorations.
