Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary

Established in 2005, this protected natural area focuses on the restoration of the rhinoceros population in Uganda. It provides a secure environment for Southern White Rhinos to breed and thrive, with the primary objective of reintroducing them into the country's national parks.

The sanctuary is the only location in the country where rhinos are maintained in a semi-wild state. In addition to the growing rhino population, the reserve serves as a habitat for various other wildlife species and supports broader biodiversity within its boundaries.

Available activities include on-foot rhino trekking, birding, and nature walks. These programs facilitate the observation of endangered animals in their natural habitat while supporting non-profit conservation and re-introduction efforts.
