Malia is a coastal town and municipal unit in the northeast corner of the Heraklion region of Crete, Greece, part of the municipality of Hersonissos, 34 kilometres east of Heraklion. The population of the municipal unit was 5,501 in 2021. It also includes the villages of Mochos, Krasi, and Stalida, and has an area of 60.720 square kilometres. The town is a tourist attraction, primarily for its nightlife. Minoan ruins lie three kilometres to the east and cover an area of 1 square kilometre.
