The heart of the “Pearl of the Adriatic” and one of the most beautiful and interesting parts of Dubrovnik. Even though the Old Town was severely damaged during the 1990's as a result of being under siege after the break-up of Yugoslavia, it did not lose its charm and it is currently under a massive restoration programme to regain its original form.
Although this place is known for its narrow, romantic streets and the authentic and mystic atmosphere that undoubtedly catches everyone's attention, it gained most of its popularity in the recent years thanks to being chosen as a filming location for some parts of the famous TV series, Game of Thrones.
This place does not lose its charm during any time of the day. When the sun goes down, you can enjoy a variety of musical and theatrical street performances and walk among not only tourists but locals seeking fun as well.
Due to its small size, you will have no problems sightseeing it on foot, but you should be prepared for steep alleyways and lots of stairs around the whole area.
