Visegrád Citadel

This citadel was built in the 13th century by king Béla IV, as a part of a larger chain of fortifications in the area. Like the other forts, it was intended to help protect the surrounding lands from a Mongol invasion.

Today, the citadel is partially reconstructed and open to visitors.
