The bridge is an impressive three-storied stone arch structure featuring covered corridors. Built between 1686 and 1765, this multi-level architectural landmark spans the castle moat. The construction is characterized by its height and unique arrangement of stacked arched levels, which is recognized as part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site.
This structure serves as a vital passage within the castle complex, linking the Upper Castle and the IV. courtyard with the V. courtyard. It provides a direct connection between several significant buildings, including the Masquerade Hall, the Castle Gallery, and the Baroque castle theater, ultimately leading to the castle gardens and park.
The bridge is decorated with a collection of Baroque statues, which line the walkway. Its design as a built-on bridge or skyway allows for movement between different functional areas of the historic site across multiple elevations.
