The architectural complex, designed by architect Boris Rubanenko, was constructed between 1947 and 1953. Consisting of two symmetrical 11-story towers that stand 30 meters tall, the design draws a historical parallel to the entrance gates of the ancient Minsk Zamchishche, symbolizing a monumental gateway to the capital. The buildings are primarily residential and are recognized as a Cultural Heritage Site.
The towers are adorned with various decorative elements, including sculptures representing heroes of the Soviet past and the coat of arms of the BSSR. One of the towers houses the largest clock in Belarus, which features a dial 3.5 meters in diameter. The ensemble was designed in the Stalinist Empire style.
Positioned as a prominent landmark, the towers serve as a greeting for those arriving in the city by train. The ensemble is considered a primary symbol of the city's architectural identity and historical continuity.
