Biblioteca Nacional de Kosovo

Founded in 1944, this institution is the highest library in the country and serves as a major cultural and research center. It functions as both a national and an academic library, acting as a hub for the collection and preservation of documentary and intellectual heritage. The library houses millions of library units.

The current building, inaugurated in 1982, was designed by the Croatian architect Andrija Mutnjaković. It is a prominent example of brutalist architecture, characterized by a unique exterior covered in a steel grid or metal mesh. The structure is most notable for its roofline, which features 99 domes of varying sizes.

Recognized as a Cultural Heritage Monument and a historic site, the building is the largest library of its kind in the country. It serves as a central repository for national cultural and academic heritage.
