This 75-meter-high landmark, adjoining St. Martin’s Church, was originally constructed around 1335 as a defensive watchtower and part of the town's fortification system. The structure features a panoramic gallery located 35 meters above ground level, which is reached by climbing 162 steps. One of the tower's notable features is a clock face that ranks among the largest in Europe.
The interior contains permanent exhibitions focused on town history and the daily life of the tower keeper. A specialized exhibition titled the Chamber of Life and Death showcases skeletal remains. The gallery provides views of the surrounding area, including nearby UNESCO World Heritage sites. The tower is open to the public.
