This purpose-built art museum is dedicated to the works of painter Oswaldo Guayasamín and serves as a tribute to the peoples of Latin America. Recognized as a Cultural Heritage Site by both the Ecuadorian government and UNESCO, the building is part of the Fundación Guayasamín cultural complex.
The museum houses a collection of muralistic works and sculptures providing an artistic interpretation of human suffering and violence across the world. A central feature of the site is the Eternal Flame for Human Rights and Peace, symbolizing the artist's commitment to these values.
Construction began in 2000, and the facility officially opened in 2002. Located in the Bellavista neighborhood, the museum is considered a masterpiece of Guayasamín and a profound tribute to humanity.
