The building was constructed between 1903 and 1905 according to designs by the architect Gustav Neumann. Officially inaugurated on December 28, 1905, it is a notable example of Renaissance Revival architecture. As a significant historical landmark, it is recognized as a protected national monument and serves as the primary seat of government.
