This three-aisled long church, designed by architect Sverre Knudsen, was completed in 1909. The building is characterized by its Art Nouveau style, though it also incorporates neo-Romanesque and neo-Baroque elements. The exterior is distinctive for its façade clad in white, yellow, and red marble.
The interior accommodates approximately 800 people and is noted for its extensive artistic decorations. Significant features include frescoes and glass paintings created by Enevold Thømt. The church also houses one of the largest organs in Norway, which underwent restoration for its centenary.
A historical carillon consisting of 39 bells is part of the church's musical equipment. As an active parish church of the Church of Norway, the building serves as both a place of worship and a community gathering point. It is a designated cultural heritage site.
