מוזיאון הלובר בפריז שבצרפת הוא אחד המוזיאונים הוותיקים, הגדולים והמפורסמים ביותר בעולם. ההיסטוריה של המבנה החלה במאה ה-12, וכבר מאז שלט בנוף של מרכז פריז. המבנה הנוכחי התפתח מארמון שהחל להיבנות במאה השש-עשרה בימי שלטונו של פרנסואה הראשון. המוזיאון שוכן במרכז פריז, בגדה הימנית שברובע הראשון של העיר בין הנהר סן לרחוב ריבולי, ובין גני טווילרי לכנסיית סן-ז'רמן ל'אוקסרואה.
הלובר, ששמו נגזר מהמילה הפרנקית leovar או leower, אשר מציינת מקום מבוצר, על-פי ההיסטוריון הצרפתי אנרי סובל, היה מקום מושבו של הריבון בצרפת, עד העברת המושב המלכותי לוורסאי בשנת 1682 על ידי לואי הארבעה-עשר. הלובר נותר מקום מושבו של הממשל עד סוף ימי המשטר הישן.
