The building was constructed between 1903 and 1905 according to designs by the architect Gustav Neumann. Officially inaugurated on December 28, 1905, it is a notable example of Renaissance Revival architecture. As a significant historical landmark, it is recognized as a protected national monument and serves as the primary seat of government.
The interior houses the office of the prime minister and various government ministries, functioning as the central hub for the country's political life and administration.
