Built between 1810 and 1817, this monumental Empire-style structure was designed by the architect Josef Hardmuth. Commissioned by Prince Jan I Josef of Liechtenstein, a member of the noble family that shaped the region, the building serves as a memorial to his father and brothers. It is designed in the form of a Greek triumphal arch and is a key architectural component of the UNESCO World Heritage site.
The structure features a rooftop observation deck that provides panoramic views of the Pálava hills, Mikulov, and the landscapes of Austria and Slovakia. Designated as a gloriette, the building sits at the highest point of the local terrain, offering a vantage point for the surrounding wine region.
The site is open to the public and serves as the starting point for the Barefoot Trail (Stezka bosou nohou). The neoclassical design is characterized by its large colonnades and ornamental features typical of early 19th-century romantic architecture.
