Built between 1884 and 1886, this historic architectural landmark was designed by the renowned Viennese architects Fellner and Helmer. The building reflects a combination of historicism and Art Nouveau styles and is designated as a Cultural Heritage Site.
The interior is famous for its magnificent decorations created by the Klimt brothers (Gustav and Ernst) and Franz Matsch. A notable feature is the painted curtain, a collaborative work by these Art Nouveau masters. The venue serves as a central hub for performing arts, hosting various theatrical companies and agencies.
The repertoire includes a variegated selection of theatre plays, musicals, and operettas, featuring both Czech and international productions. In addition to theatrical performances, the building serves as a venue for various social events.
