This former rice mill was converted into a Nazi concentration camp during World War II. It stands as the only extermination camp established by the Nazis on Italian soil. The site served multiple purposes, functioning as a police detention camp, a transit point for deportees, and a location for mass killings.
The complex, which covers an area of 6,900 square meters, now operates as a civic museum and a national monument dedicated to the memory of victims of the Holocaust and fascist persecution. Historically, the facility included a crematorium and served as a site of detention and historical reflection.
The site is open to the public and functions as a place of memory. Guided tours are available, including organized sessions during the month of August.
