Engstligenalp is the largest high plateau in the western Swiss Alps, characterized by its alpine scenery, pastures, and 600-meter high waterfalls. Located at an altitude between 1900 and 2000 meters, the area is designated as a nature reserve and maintains significant cultural traditions, including alpine farming.
The plateau is primarily accessible via cable car. In summer, the landscape supports hiking and climbing, with specific wheelchair-accessible trails available. During the winter months, the terrain is used for skiing, cross-country skiing, and winter hiking.
The site is open to the public and serves as a starting point for various mountain activities. As a significant cultural landscape, it combines traditional agricultural use with modern recreational infrastructure.
