The Tunnel of Hope, also known as the Tunnel of Salvation, is a memorial complex centered on an 800-meter underground passage constructed during the Siege of Sarajevo. Built between January 18, 1993, and July 1, 1993, the tunnel linked the neighborhoods of Dobrinja and Butmir, serving as a vital lifeline for military and humanitarian supplies.
The museum is located at the former Kolar family house, which served as the original entrance to the tunnel. A section of the original passage is preserved, alongside a reconstructed stretch of the underground tunnel. Architectural interventions are currently underway at the site to enhance its role as a commemorative space for collective remembrance.
Exhibitions include original wartime artifacts, military equipment, and humanitarian items used during the conflict. Documentation regarding the tunnel's construction and historical use is displayed alongside dioramas and a documentary film. The site is open to the public as a memorial and historical museum.
