This tufa barrier waterfall was formed approximately 50,000 years ago where the Pliva River meets the Vrbas River. While originally 30 meters high, the height was reduced to approximately 22 meters following damage from a civil war earthquake and impacts from a nearby hydroelectric plant. It is noted for its impressive size and the sound it produces, which is audible from a distance.
The site is considered a significant natural landmark and is included in the proposed UNESCO World Heritage site ensemble. It is often associated with the nearby 17th-century wooden mills located on the Pliva River. The waterfall is recognized for its natural beauty and serves as a center for adrenaline tourism, including sanctioned waterfall jumps and zip-lining.
Access to the area includes free viewpoints from elevated positions and a paid viewing station situated closer to the base for a more direct experience. The site is open to the public and stands as a major landmark that towers over the surrounding landscape.
