Slottsskogen

Slottsskogen is a 137-hectare park designed in the national romantic style, with its history rooted in its past as a royal hunting ground. Established as a city park in 1874, the area consists of a mix of natural forest, large grass fields, and the Azaleadalen valley, which contains a collection of azaleas.

The park contains a zoo focusing on Swedish animals that is free to visit and open year-round. Several educational activity areas and playgrounds are located throughout the grounds, including the large Plikta playground. The Gothenburg Museum of Natural History is situated within the park's boundaries.

Extensive walking paths and sports facilities provide space for recreational activities. The park serves as a venue for large-scale cultural events and festivals, such as the annual Way Out West Festival. Large open green spaces are designated for picnics and public gatherings.
