This major institution is the largest and most comprehensive museum of its kind, dedicated to chronicling 4,000 years of Jewish history, culture, and identity. Originally opened on May 15, 1978, the museum was designed by architect Yitzhak Yashar. Also known as Beit Hatfutsot, the exhibits tell an ongoing story from the Babylonian exile through antiquity to the present day.
The museum features a combination of permanent and changing exhibitions that utilize modern technology and audiovisual displays. These interactive displays are designed to present the global diaspora's experiences, accomplishments, and diverse narratives in an immersive format.
The facility is open to the public and operates as both a history museum and a nonprofit organization. Extensive digital databases are maintained at the institution, documenting Jewish genealogy, music, and community histories worldwide, serving as a central resource for the study of Jewish life across generations.
