This natural coastal landmark consists of a series of columnar joints formed by the rapid cooling of lava from the Hallasan volcano. The site features hexagonal basalt columns and staircase-like rock formations that stretch for approximately one kilometer along the shoreline. Geologically, these vertical stone pillars are noted for their similarity to the Giant's Causeway in Northern Ireland.
Designated as Natural Monument No. 443, the area is recognized as part of a UNESCO-designated site and a living volcanic museum. The tall, geometric stone columns create a distinct landscape that is particularly striking when high waves crash against the rock faces.
The site is open to the public for observing volcanic geology, and fishing is possible along the coast. It covers an area of approximately 380,968 square meters.
