This historic fortification dates back to the Middle Ages and was originally constructed to protect the port. Throughout its history, it has served as a Byzantine fort, an Ottoman garrison, an artillery station, and a British prison. The structure remains open to the public as a significant historical landmark.
The site houses the Larnaka Medieval Museum, which displays historical artifacts from the early Christian, Byzantine, and post-Byzantine periods.
