Built between 1598 and 1602, this Renaissance city gate is the only surviving structure of the original nine gates that once formed the town's fortifications. It was designed by architect Domenico Benedetto Cometta of Eckthurn and commissioned by Peter Vok of Rosenberg, a member of a prominent noble family. The gate is notable for its unique dual-façade design and serves as a significant historical landmark marking a main entrance to the urban center.

The site holds historical significance from the 20th century as well. In October 1938, during the period of the Munich Agreement, the gate was the scene of heavy fighting between Czechoslovak forces and Nazi militants. It remains a notable monument associated with the defense of the region during this period.

As a designated Cultural Heritage Site, the gate stands as a well-preserved remnant of the former fortification system.
