Established in 1882, this national institution is the oldest and largest archaeological museum in the region. It operates under the Department of Antiquities and serves as the primary repository for historical heritage, housing the world's most extensive collection of Cypriot antiquities. The collection consists exclusively of artifacts discovered during systematic excavations.
The permanent exhibits are organized chronologically within fourteen display halls. The collection spans from the Neolithic Age through the Bronze Age, Iron Age, and Hellenistic period, concluding with the Roman and Early Byzantine eras. Significant artifacts include pottery, jewelry, sculpture, and coins, with the statue of Aphrodite of Soloi serving as a prominent highlight.
The facility is open to the public and is wheelchair accessible. The displays illustrate the cultural and social development of the region's civilization over several millennia, reflecting its diverse archaeological history through vast permanent exhibitions.
