Gros Piton is a prominent volcanic peak and one of two volcanic plugs. As a significant natural landmark, the site is designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The peak is a destination for hiking, featuring a route that reaches the summit. The ascent can be completed without the need for ropes or specialized mountaineering equipment.
The area is recognized as a nature reserve and encompasses approximately 2909.0 square meters. It is classified as both a mountain and a volcanic spire.
