Dongdaemun Design Plaza

This plaza comes as a very pleasant surprise when you get tired of skyscrapers and buildings that all look the same. The neo-futuristic design is surely going to catch your interest.

The interior consists of an art hall, museum, design lab, design market, and Dongdaemun History and Culture Park. It's often used as a venue for fashion shows, exhibitions, conventions and other cultural events of Seoul. It also serves as a shopping area, and you can look forward to frequent concerts and festivals taking place here. To boil it down - this plaza is the centre of cultural happenings.

It's especially beautiful during the night, when the building is lit up and you can visit a special LED garden with 25 550 roses illuminating the space. You can often see couples coming here for a date, or photographers wanting to take pictures of the unique scenery.

Some people come here just to shop, but it is mainly visited for the impressive scenery and futuristic design of the area. It's right next to the Dongdaemun History & Culture Park subway station, lines 2, 4 and 5, exit 1 or 2.
