This UNESCO World Heritage Site is one of the largest Jewish cemeteries of its kind, containing approximately 11,000 graves and roughly 2,600 to 3,000 tombstones. The oldest burial markers date back to 1630 and 1631, serving as a significant testament to the history of the local Jewish community and funerary architecture.
The grounds feature highly valuable baroque tombstones with rich decoration and a historic ceremonial hall constructed in 1903. The site is designated as a National Cultural Monument.
The cemetery is part of a larger heritage complex that includes the neighboring Jewish quarter and the Basilica of St. Procopius. The site is open to the public.
