Founded in 1983 by Sharon Matola, this wildlife rescue and rehabilitation center is the oldest facility of its kind in the country. The grounds encompass 30 acres (12 hectares) of natural forest and exclusively house native animals that have been rescued, donated, or born at the facility.
The sanctuary contains over 150 animals representing more than 40 native species. Habitats are integrated into the existing forest landscape to maintain the natural environment. The facility functions as a conservation and education center dedicated to the protection of indigenous wildlife.
The site is the first and only nature destination in the country to be fully accessible to those with physical disabilities. It includes a tropical education center.
