The Teleférico de Monserrate is a historic aerial lift system that connects to the top of the Monserrate hill and the Basílica del Señor de Monserrate. Built between 1953 and 1955, it officially opened on September 27, 1955, and is recognized as the oldest tourist cable car in Latin America.
The modernized system completes the ascent to an altitude of 3,152 meters in approximately four minutes. This transport route provides panoramic perspectives of the city and is a frequently used location for observing sunsets from the mountain peak.
The cable car serves as a primary method for reaching the Santuario de Monserrate basilica. It provides a scenic route to the religious site and the various viewpoints located at the summit.
