Originally established in the 13th century for defensive and administrative purposes, this royal castle is a national cultural monument. The structure illustrates an architectural evolution from the Romanesque and Gothic periods through to the Renaissance style. Notable features include the Baroque Chapel of Saint Barbara and a courtyard containing the Lípa neviny (Linden of Innocence).
The castle is open to the public and features several guided tours of the historical interiors.
